The Melting pot was a big step for Chillin'Room. Matt and I self -recorded our first album 'Fresh Bait' and had been hammering the road for a few years to this point. We knew the songs were good and our steak was seasoned. However we could never have predicted the transformation the album would take working with James Gauthier. James was a legend. An amazing producer, engineer, guitar player and the best ear in the game. His studio was a short drive past Oromocto near Sheffield New Brunswick along the Saint John river. We took good few months to record the Melting Pot. Most days Scotty, Ross, JD, McGuire or I would go in solo with James. Each having our own space to create parts and have James push us to new levels. None of us could believe how different and amazing the album sounded. The Melting Pot gave us a glimpse into our in-studio potential.
The album is filled with layers, horns, beautiful harmonies and tonal textures. It is called the Melting Pot because of the many different genres represented throughout the album.
